Ibanez Concord 699-12

I purchased this 12-string dreadnought in 1977 and never regretted. The serial # stamped at the block says that it was built in May 1977. Wonder wether Ibanez still builds guitars as fine as this one. The guitar is an eyecatcher because of it's pale look all over: The fretboard is beech, back, sides and neck maple (slightly quilted at back & sides). The top is fine grained bright spruce. The headstock is veneered with a fine piece of quilted maple, the logo is inlayed with abalone. Laquer (i think it is polymer) is finished with a high gloss. Bindings are black and white plastic sripes. The sound: Strong bass, singing "sweet" high range and distiguisehed midrange. I have played many guitars of many makers and did not come across many that were better than this one until I tried some all solid wood guitars and had the money left to purchase them.
As a difference to the guitars shown above, this one was produced by one of those huge japanese companies. In Japan it was fashinable at thoes days, to copy and fake everything, that already existed in the world. So this is a Martin fake. The difference is, that the body is made of plywood. I even suspect the top to be plywood wich is hard to believe because of the good and rich tone, the guitar produces.
